Press Release
–FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—
studio C Announces Ireland’s First Mobile Metal Clay Studio and
a new series of Make Your Own Silver Jewellery Workshops
studio C is ready to deliver its Make Your Own Silver Jewellery Courses throughout Ireland with its Mobile Metal Clay Studio. A first of its kind, the mobile studio brings silver jewellery making courses to interested participants instead of asking participants travel to the courses. As the only Art Clay Certified Instructor in Ireland, owner Lisa Fahy is ready to get on the road and bring this exciting new crafting opportunity to every county in the country.
studio C’s Make Your Own Silver Pendant with Metal Clay workshop is designed as an introduction to metal clay. In this workshop, up to seven participants spend three hours learning how to work with Silver Clay in its three different forms. After learning how to use the metal clay, participants can then design their own pendant, and with expert help from the instructor, complete a piece that can be worn away from the workshop on the same day. Intermediate and advanced workshops, suitable for anyone who has taken a basic silver clay course include ring making, stone setting, and combining silver and copper clay elements together. A special workshop for Hen Parties is also available, including options for lodging in Westport, Co. Mayo.
The Mobile Metal Clay Studio can be set up in any room with two standard electrical sockets (one for a small kiln and one for a small toaster oven). Workshops are suitable for community centres, arts and crafts centres, classrooms, and home settings, and for any type of group, from formal situations to groups of friends that are looking for a fun and relaxing crafting experience in the comfort of their own kitchens or dining rooms.
Metal clay is a relatively new crafting medium, developed 10 years ago in Japan. Art Clay Silver, one of the brands of metal clay, consists of small particles of silver reclaimed through the recycling process that are suspended in an organic, clay-like binder. Once the “clay” is fired in a kiln, the binder burns off and the particles of silver sinter, or fuse, together. The resulting piece of jewellery is piece of 99.9% pure silver.
studio C has its own premises in Kiltimagh, Co. Mayo, and runs workshops from there. It also hosts open studio days and a free kiln firing service for any of its students working with the clay on a non-commercial basis.
Make Your Own Silver Jewellery with Metal Clay workshops held at the Kiltimagh start at 50 euro per person (including tea, coffee, and biscuits). Prices may increase depending on the location of the workshop, but studio C is committed to working with groups to create an affordable experience.
